3. Failing to Delegate V.21
Some surveys rank “inability to delegate” as the No. 1 reason that
leaders fail.
You can’t do everything by yourself. And even if you could, doing everything by yourself isn’t the most effective use of your time or talent as a leader.
You may be highly skilled and and excellent worker, but when you become the leader of a team of highly skilled, excellent workers, your job CHANGES!
Your job is no longer to only carry our your responsibilities, but to manage and develop a group of people and help them become better leaders.
When you delegate responsibilities to others, you multiply the amount of work that you can do.
A project that seems overwhelming on the surface is suddenly very manageable when you divide it up among 5 different people.
When you delegate work to others, you also create opportunities to develop them and their leadership skills. Whenever you take on a new assignment, task or an ongoing job, ask yourself whether one of the men can do it instead (and if the answer is yes, then delegate it!)

Delegation of authority does get alot more done and we should hold the baton of our responsibility with an open hand, ready for another to come along and take it. It is not ours to hoarde! Clone yourself. And if a person can't do a task on their own, then by all means, take time to train them properly. A good leader also makes himself followable and I hate to say "likeable", but there it is. People have to be able to trust that person with the reigns. Also one should, as a leader, praise in public and critique in private, to keep the led from being discouraged. I've been taught and motivated by great leaders, and I guess that taking time with each individual is one of the best ways to lead. And don't play favorites, although sometimes you just have to; even Jesus loved John more! Resentments can result from that behavior. Management of a team is a whole different ballgame from just putting time in. That I do know. Thank you for the subject matter, Pastor!

Last weeek, I was being pulled here and there, to do different Tasks at my job, It became overwhelming. I had to talk to Management, he was considerate about it and ordered that the job be split up by four. There were a lot of chiefs and not enough indians. By working together, lots can be accomplished. It also goes with the church ministry. Delegation is a good tool to use, Its used at Victory Family, and all seems to work out!!
