Pastor Cyrus Rod of Uganda, Africa visits Victory Family Men’s Ministry
WHAT'S YOUR DRIVE AND PASSION?
1 Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”
Genesis 4:1
Here we have two men, Cain and Able. They are both born with a sinful nature however they have not been opened up to sins yet (according to scripture). As they grow up they are friends. But when they come into the presence of God sin is revealed. How? They offer sacrifices. They each presented two entirely different types of offerings.
Abel offered an offering of blood, through death.
Cain offered an offering of grain through the work of his hands.
Abel’s offering is accepted. Cain’s offering is rejected.
When Abel’s offering was accepted, God poured His favor upon Abel. Everything he touched had the favor and blessing of God upon his life. But Cain’s offering was not accepted. When his offering was not accepted something was revealed within Cain.
From the rejection of his offering was manifested a drive and passion to commit sin.
[Motivational speaking] causes discontentment to be stirred up within people so that a carnal, fleshly, satanic drive will arise within people.
Are you tired of living from paycheck to paycheck? Are you tired of struggling all the time? You don’t have to struggle anymore. All you need is 10 steps to victory, or 7 keys to success. All of the answers you need are already within you. This type of message will stir you up and creating a drive and passion within you. The root of it is a desire for acceptance among the high achievers. At the core of this dangerous message is discontentment. Christ is the passion, the drive. He will “cause” you, Christ will move you.
There is a drive and a passion that manifests through a spirit of rejection. There is a drive within men that springs from man’s envy. When we are not accepted by God or others we feel the need to work and earn acceptance. This is only flesh and will never fulfill a person’s life.
And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man’s envy of his neighbor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Eccl. 4:4
